PROPOSAL to PRODUCE a FILM in INDONESIA
“JAM JAM BALI JAM”

Dear Sir & Madam,

We are now very pleased to formally present a proposal you to become the exclusive Sponsor of the film “JAM JAM BALI JAM” [JJBJ] .

We have attached various documents that both outline and detail the substantive items that are required to be provisioned, managed and executed to make this Project a success.

The Story Line is compelling, humorous, different and attractive to a wide audience including the possibility of International interest.  It is proposed that there could be follow on sequels to JJBJ in the same genre.

The creative components of JJBJ including Script Writing, Musical Score Filming Technique, Direction, Editing and Production have been developed by a highly talented group with extensive experience in the Indonesian and International TV and Film Industry.

In becoming the Sponsor of JJBJ, you will have “Sponsor” packages for advertising and promotion of the screening of JJBJ.

The format of this TV Film JJBJ will be different than any precedent in Indonesia in that:
·         It is proposed to be screened before a very large live audience in Bali
·         Up-streamed and Block Time Booked to many Regional & Local TV Channels across Indonesia at the same time
·         A new concept “QUIZ BREAK” will be conducted several times during the screening:
o   The audience both at the live screening and viewers will be challenged by the film actors to answer questions by SMS about the film content
o   Winners will be automatically selected and prizes will be awarded by you our Sponsor that are participating in the multi-format screening event
o   This will be a very strong “soft advertising / promotion” opportunity for you to a very large market segment with detailed feed back

We are confident that this new film will open new business opportunities for further projects between us included in this venture as the discussions have revealed an overlapping vision and where the talents of each organisation can enhance each other to produce strong new propositions.

We look forward to your acceptance of this Proposal and assure you of our enthusiasm and dedication to make this Project a huge success for all concerned.

Yours sincerely,

A.        BRIEF SYNOPSIS

The name JAM-JAM-BALI-JAM is a name thought of and composed by Andy Eric Manuhutu, or known as Andy Atis, who happens to be the writer of scenario and script of this story. The idea came based on the writer’s desire to create a movie focusing on diverse cultures, ages, race, and nationalities of several young people in their late teens and early twenties. The movie will show how these diverse youngsters intermingled in their daily activities, trapped in an island that every world traveler who has visited called it the island of paradise; which geographically known as the island of Bali.
The writer has the outmost desire to create a movie that will portray the positive ends of the daily conflict of characters amongst young people today. Bali is chosen and will be the base of where the characters are living, as natives of the islands, immigrants or temporary residents. “JAM-JAM-BALI-JAM” will be a one and half hour Drama of daily live style of the characters (University & High school Students) from other countries coming to live and continue their formal education in Bali; living with a local family with an international surfing competition as the main bridge of the entire story. It will be an additional contribution to the Indonesia movie scenes; written, produced and directed by Indonesian team with creative twist of story lines, scenarios, life styles (which have been the adopted life styles since the late 80’s). It is to support all the newly released movies (Early 90’s up to present time) done by the directors and producers of young Indonesia such as Rizal Manthovani, Mira Lesmana, Indra Yudhistira, Ruddy Sujarwo and many more to come.
The educated families; the youngsters being smart and dedicated to education, music and sports, for some viewers might be a “too good to be true” situations in real live. The writer is persuading the viewers to accept that good living; educated people/family; modern living although far from showing glamour and glittering life style; dual language (English and bahasa Indonesia) applied in the dialogs of the movie as it used to be during the early years of Indonesia; our elders did speak Dutch amongst each other; why can’t the new generations speak English amongst themselves? Politically and subliminally, the after independent generations are forced to forget that the Dutch culture did play a big role in the development of the previous generations (say mom and dad’s parents). What would it be if the Dutch language still is a big part of our daily conversation? Perhaps our generations will be better informed of many aspects and growth of the world today (not all books written only in English). So the writer is trying to portray a generation of International standard and awareness in facing the era of globalization; they are Indonesians ready to mingle with the International counterparts and well provisioned to go even further.

Why the writer did choose Bali as the base of the environment of the story? In order to establish a new style of generation which actually do exist in Indonesia, Bali will be a place with less expected criticism do to its already international blended or adopted culture. The Balinese will not mind or deny that modern living of its today generations adopting American or European Life Style do exist and has become an everyday life Style. Differ from the modern living in Jakarta or other big cities in Indonesia. In Bali, those life style mentioned have blended into their today generations and have not changed the core culture of Bali at all. At least that is how the writer sees it.

One unique addition in this movie is that there is a shadow story (for a lack of better words) intermingled within the main story itself which will show several young people (college and or high school students) dies due to drug overdosed; and a known Japanese drug cartel is opening his empire in Bali. The Indonesian Police working together with the Japanese Interpol are able to crack down the entire ring in Bali; with somehow the involvement of Toshi Hashimoto a junior exchange professor at the university, who is actually an undercover police from the Japanese Interpol bureau. Toshi’s involvement will also affect the other characters in this film and somehow getting them, involve in the actual police actions.

A.1       BRIEF INFORMATION ON MAIN CHARACTERS

Wayan, the father/husband lives with his wife and three children Made, Putri, and Romy on a beautiful beach front villa in Canggu beach. The Wayans will rent their three bungalows to the temporary residents. They are as follows:
Rajit Singh with a nickname Rajit (ruhjeet) is an exchange student from New Delhi studying mathematics. He loves to surf, which is one of the reasons why he chose Bali as his foreign school destination. He speaks very good English with the typical Indian accent. Randy loves children and always makes time to mingle with the local children; help them with their studies and teach them how to surf. Randy also gets a side job helping Nini at her clinic. Randy is in love with Suzy; although it was hard in the beginning but his room mate Kenji helps him a lot and at the end Randy and Suzy dates each other. – Preferred individual for this character is Ello, Indonesia’s current Pop star.
Mark Gordon is a student from Australia who studies anthropology and photography. He is also a surfer and is the best of them all. Mark loves to take picture of people; Suzy is one of his major targets. He has a crush on Putri but Putri likes Rajit better. Mark is also good looking, a thinker, hyperactive but so gullible. The boys like to get him into embarrassing situations. Mark is very much attached to Wayan; he likes him because of Wayan’s many wisdoms and he treats him like a father away from home.

Didie Gordon is Mark’s sister, a dead gorgeous Australian girl who is studying arts and culture. Didie is a very sweet person and easy to make friends with anybody to a point that she seems gullible. C.     PRESENTATION STRATEGY

C.1       UPLINK and DOWN LINK

The format of this Film JJBJ will be different than any precedent in Indonesia in that:
·         It is proposed to be screened before a very large live audience in Bali
·         Up-streamed and Block Time Booked to at least 15 (Fifteen) Regional & Local TV Channels across Indonesia at the same time
·         A new concept “QUIZ BREAK” will be conducted several times during the screening:
o   The audience both at the live screening and viewers will be challenged by the film actors to answer questions by SMS about the film content
o   Winners will be automatically selected and prizes will be awarded by Sponsor Companies that are participating in the multi-format screening event
o   This will be a very strong “soft advertising / promotion” opportunity for the sponsors to a very large market segment with detailed feed back

The above budget proposed is including the budget to purchase necessary block-time hours needed for the screening in all the Regional Television stations. This way we will owned the full commercial rights during the screening.

The prospected Regional stations are:

Cahaya Televisi Indonesia                      - Banten
JakTV                                                   - Jakarta
Jog TV                                                  - Jogjakarta
ProTV                                                   - Semarang
TA-TV                                                   - Solo
S-TV                                                     - Bandung
L-TV                                                     - Lampung
Pacific TV                                             - Manado
Mks TV                                                 - Makassar
Bali TV                                                 - Bali
Riau TV                                                            - Pakanbaru
Batam TV                                             - Batam
Deli TV                                                 - Medan
GN TV                                                  - Malang
J TV                                                     - Surabaya

With this screening strategy and strong 30 days daily television promotion, JJBJ will have at least 20% of each of the above city’s television viewers. It will be the largest movie viewers at a single time ever in Indonesia. You as our sponsor will have a direct focused audience as its market for its returned commercial value for the sponsorship investment.

C.2       PRE-SCREENING CONCERT

In Bali the potential viewers will have the opportunity to watch JJBJ through a giant screen in Garuda Wishnu Kencana (GWK) Theatre which has a 5.000 seating capacity. Prior to the screening the audience in Bali will have the opportunity to watch live music performance of Indonesian recording artists who are involved in the movie itself.

 C.3      SHORT MESSAGE SERVICES (SMS)

A new concept “QUIZ BREAK” will be conducted several times during the screening in GWK and throughout the Regional Television stations
o   The audience both at the live screening and viewers will be challenged by the film actors to answer questions by SMS about the film content
o   Winners will be automatically selected and prizes will be awarded by Sponsor Companies that are participating in the multi-format screening event
o   This will be a very strong “soft advertising / promotion” opportunity for the sponsors to a very large market segment with detailed feed back

Since the movie will be in multi language, with English as the predominant language (70%), international screening is a possibility. We can negotiate with private television station in Australia (SBS) and TV3 in Kualalumpur – Malaysia to broadcast this movie simultaneously; adding the commercial value to you.

D.        MARKETING & PROMOTION

We have put together a marketing package with winning strategy for the prospects. The prospects are grouped into three basic partnerships. Each group will give certain percentage of the main production budget with a certain amount of commercial values for the returns:

E.         OFF – AIR PRODUCTION BUDGET

In order to make the screening a successful event for all parties concerned we have also mentioned to you of the additional budget required to put together a concert and live audience live broadcast strategy.

However, the concert production cost can be obtained through a separate sponsorship scheme; and the Satellite Uplink system for live broadcast is available within the telecommunication community; if possible utilize with barter deal.

E.1       CONCERT PRODUCTIONS & SATELITE UPLINK

One hour prior to the presentation of the movie JJBJ at Garuda Wishnu Kencana Theatre in Jimbaran Bali there will be a one hour concert of Recording Artists of Indonesia who are involved as cats in JJBJ. Therefore there additional budget requires or additional sponsorship required for this to be done:
